The Society for Veterinary Sciences and Biotechnology (SVSBT) was formed by a group of scientists dealing with publication of a Quarterly journal, The Indian Journal of Field Veterinarians, mainly the Chief Editor Dr. R.S. Dhanotia, the former Professor of Veterinary Biochemistry at Mhow Veterinary College, Madhya Pradesh with support of its Editorial board and other stalwarts. The society SVSBT came into existence on Oct 10, 2012 at Indore under the Madhya Pradesh Societies Act, 1973 clause 44 (Registration No. 03/27/03/15552/12) with Dr. R.S. Shrimal, former Director of AH & Veterinary Services, M.P., Bhopal, as founder President; Dr. R.S. Dhanotia, Ex-Prof of Biochemistry, Mhow Veterinary College as General Secretary and Editor in Chief of the journal, and Dr. R.K. Bagherwal Professor of Veterinary Medicine, Mhow as founder Treasurer with a central executive committee of 12 members.
The society started its journey soon after its registration by organizing its First National Seminar on 9th March 2013, at Veterinary College, AAU, Anand, Gujarat by Dr. A.J. Dhami, Professor & Head, VGO, and Vice President, SVSBT, as the Organizing Secretary, with a grand success. Thereafter the regular Annual 2 or 3 days’ Seminars / Symposia were hosted different institutes of repute in throughout the country. Thus, this budding society though in its infancy, has made a rapid stride by Organizing National/International Seminars/Symposia/Conferences every year, except 2020 for Covid-Pandemic. As on July 5, 2025 it has 786 LMs, and is flourishing well day by day with the support of all well wishers.
The SVSBT is the publishing body behind the Indian Journal of Veterinary Sciences & Biotechnology (IJVSBT), a double peer reviewed, open access bimonthly journal based at Indore, Madhya Pradesh (India) with current NAAS rating of 5.25.
